Just an hour and a half drive away from China's bustling commercial hub of Shanghai, "Life in Venice" was inspired by the famed Italian city, featuring European style sculptures and buildings connected by canals and bridges.

It was once advertised as the garden of Shanghai, promising a luxurious, relaxing, resortlike lifestyle by the sea. But property prices faltered a few years ago, and in 2024 the complex's developer, Evergrande, declared bankruptcy.

Today, "Life in Venice" is a ghost town with a sea view, many of its units left unsold.

Home prices here have more than halved. Many villas are abandoned, mere husks of concrete and alabaster, their private docks left unused. A three-bedroom apartment here can be rented for just 800 yuan ($116) a month.

Those bargain prices are luring some who are seeking a laid-back, low-cost way of living and an escape from the hypercompetitive rat race in China's megacities.

A few grocery stores, some restaurants and a package delivery station offer enough for the people who have chosen to move here.

In the winter the complex is largely quiet, as residents enjoy a slower pace of life. Some men fish next to a deflated rubber ducky. Children's clothes are hung out to dry in public. A lone man, swaying on a swing on an empty beach, gaze out at an abandoned pier.

  • Roach said, "The wedding has already happened" to a reporter at Sunday's awards show

ZendayaandTom Hollandare married, Law Roach claims.

While chatting withAccess Hollywoodon the red carpet at the 2026 Actor Awards on Sunday, March 1, the actress' longtime stylist said, "The wedding has already happened," teasing, "You missed it."

After the reporter then asked, "Is that true?" Roach replied, "It's very true" with a laugh.

PEOPLE has reached out to reps for both Zendaya and Holland.

Speculation that the two stars were engaged began during the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 5 when Zendaya was spotted wearing a stunning diamond on the ring finger of her left hand.TMZconfirmed the news the following day on Jan. 6, citing sources close to the couple.

That same day, an inside source told PEOPLE that theCrowded Roomstar had been "wanting to propose [to theChallengersactress] for a while now. He's always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one."

"They have something very special," the source added.

In Sept. 2025, Holland broke his silence on the couple's engagement when he sweetly corrected a reporter during a recent panel event when the man referencedZendayaas being Holland's girlfriend.

In the clipcirculating on X, the off-camera reporter can be heard saying, "I brought my daughter and she got to meet your girlfriend."

Tom laughs and replies, "Fiancée."

The couple — who are notoriously private — first sparked dating rumors in 2016 when they were cast alongside each other inSpider-Man: Homecoming. However, both Zendaya and Tom maintained that their connection was strictly platonic at the time.

In July 2017, a source told PEOPLE that the pair were romantically involved.

"They started seeing each otherwhile they were filmingSpider-Man," the insider said. "They've been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they've gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another."

"They're both really ambitious and they challenge each other — but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humor and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth," added another source.

Their romance was officially confirmed in 2021 when theEuphoriastar andAvengers: Endgameactor werespotted kissing in a car.

In November of that same year, Holland opened up about the challenges of balancing fame with the privacy of his relationship while sitting down withGQ.

"One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world," Holland told the outlet.

Zendaya shared a similar sentiment while speaking toGQfor the same piece, noting, "The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own."

"I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other," she added.

CIA tracked Iranian leaders for months ahead of attacks that began with 3 strikes in 60 seconds

WASHINGTON (AP) — Israeli and American authorities spent weeks tracking the movements of senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sharing information that allowed the strikes to be carried out in a surprise daylight attack, according to an Israeli military official and a person familiar with the operation.

Associated Press President Donald Trump holds up a fist after disembarking Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla., Friday, Feb. 27, 2026. Trump

The eventual barrage ofU.S.-Israeli attacks on Irancame so quickly that they were nearly simultaneous — with three strikes in three locations hitting within a single minute — killing Khamenei and some 40 senior figures, including the head of the Revolutionary Guard and the country's defense minister, the Israeli military official said Sunday.

The official insisted on anonymity to more fully detail the attack, but said that a variety of factors created a golden opportunity to take out much of Iran's leadership, like weeks of training and monitoring the movements of senior figures as well as intelligence in real-time before the attack began that key targets were gathered together.

Striking by day also gave an additional element of surprise, said the official, who said that so many major, rapid-fire strikes were critical to keep key officials from fleeing after the first strike. The official said Israel closely cooperated with its U.S. counterparts and had used a similar tactic at the beginning of last June's war — which resulted in the killing of several senior Iranian figures.

The official also noted Khamenei having posted defiant tweets taunting President Donald Trump in the days before the attack.

The details about the strikes came as the conflict entered its second day, with Trump saying in a video message Sunday that he expected it would continue until "all of our objectives are achieved." He did not spell out what those objectives were.

The Republican president also said the U.S. military and its partners hit hundreds of targets in Iran, including paramilitary Revolutionary Guard facilities, Iranian air defense systems and nine warships, "all in a matter of literally minutes."

CIA had long tracked top Iranian leaders

Before the attacks, the CIA had for months tracked the movements of senior Iranian leaders, including the country's supreme leader.

The intelligence was shared with Israeli officials, and the timing of the strikes was adjusted in part because of that information about the Iranian leaders' location, according to the person, who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The intelligence-sharing between U.S. and Israel reflects the preparation that went into the strikes, which continued for a second day Sunday afterKhamenei's killingthrew the future ofthe Islamic Republicintouncertaintyand raised the risk of escalating regional conflict.

Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told CBS' "Face the Nation" that tracking the movements of the supreme leader and the heads of other adversarial nations "is obviously one of the highest priorities of our intelligence community."

The U.S. regularly shares intelligence with allies including Israel. Those partnerships, and the accuracy of the intelligence they yield, is often critical not only to the success of a military operation but also to thepublic's support for it.

Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the senior Democrat on the committee, told The Associated Press that, historically, "our working relationship with the Mossad and Israel is really strong." Mossad is the Israeli spy agency.

Warner said he has serious concerns about the justification for the strikes, Trump's long-term plans for the conflict and the risks that U.S. service members will face. The military announced that three American troops had been killed in the Iran operation.

"No tears will be shed over their leadership being eliminated, but always the question is: OK, what next?" Warner said.

Iran has signaled it's open to talks with the US

A senior White House official said Iran's "new potential leadership" has suggested it is open to talks with the United States. That official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal administration deliberations, said Trump has indicated he's "eventually" willing to talk but that for nowthe military operation "continues unabated."

The official did not say who the potential new Iranian leaders are or how they made their alleged willingness to talk known. Separately, Trump told The Atlantic that he planned to speak with Iran's new leadership.

"They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them," he said Sunday, declining comment on the timing.

The potential future diplomatic opening comes as the details were emerging aboutthe detailed planning that went intothe U.S.-Israeli strikes and some of the targets that were hit in Iran.

U.S. Central Command said that B-2 stealth bombers struck Iran's ballistic missile facilities with 2,000-pound bombs. That mirrors the approach that the military took in June, when Trump agreed to deployB-2 bombersto attack three key Iranian nuclear sites.

Trump said during hisState of the Union speechlast week that Iran had been building ballistic missiles that could reach the U.S. homeland — a justification he repeated again Saturday as he announced that the bombardment of Iran was underway.

Iran has not acknowledged that it is building or seeking to build intercontinental ballistic missiles. The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, however, said in anunclassified reportlast year that Iran could develop a militarily viable intercontinental ballistic missile by 2035 "should Tehran decide to pursue the capability."

Federman reported from Jerusalem. Associated Press writers Matthew Lee, Will Weissert and Ben Finley contributed to this report.

'Scream 7' rules the box office with record opening weekend

You can't keep Ghostface down.

USA TODAY

"Scream 7" has sliced its way to No. 1 at the domestic box office, scoring the biggest opening weekend in the horror franchise's 30-year history.

The latest slasher sequel starringNeve Campbelldebuted with $64.1 million in North American theaters, according to estimates from Comscore released on Sunday. This surpasses the franchise's previous biggest opening weekend of $44.4 million for 2023's "Scream VI." It's also the biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, topping the$32.8 million launch of "Wuthering Heights."

Prior to "Scream VI," the fifth "Scream" movie, which was the series' first new entry in over a decade, opened to $30 million in January 2022 amid continued COVID-19 concerns. 2011's "Scream 4," the series' lowest-grossing installment, started with $18.7 million in 2011.

Campbell stars as five-time Ghostface survivor Sidney Prescott in "Scream 7," in which a mysterious new killer emerges to target her and her teenage daughter, played by series newcomerIsabel May. Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Joel McHale also star.

Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott in "Scream 7."

The success of "Scream 7" is a win for Paramount after the sequel's production was plagued by controversy, starting with thefiring of Melissa Barrera.

'Scream 7'star Isabel May reveals Neve Campbell's touching 'maternal act'

In 2023, Barrera, who played lead character Sam Carpenter in the most recent two "Scream" films, was removed from "Scream 7" over her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas war, which production company Spyglass alleged constituted hate speech. Barrera, who has been supportive of Palestine and critical of Israel, said at the time that she condemns "hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people."

On Wednesday, Feb. 25,pro-Palestine protesters demonstratedoutside the "Scream 7" Los Angeles premiere. Barrera seemed to address the demonstrations by writing on Instagram, "I see you."

Jenna Ortega, who played the sister of Barrera's character in the previous two "Scream" movies, also declined to return for "Scream 7." Shelater tied her decisionto Barrera's firing and the exit of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who helmed both of the "Scream" movies she starred in. "It had nothing to do with pay or scheduling," Ortegatold The Cut. "The Melissa [Barrera] stuff was happening, and it was all kind of falling apart."

Director Christopher Landon also announced his exit from "Scream 7" in 2023, describing the project as a "dream job that turned into a nightmare." He has said the decision to fire Barrera was out of his hands but that it caused him toreceive death threats.

Beware of Ghostface! All 7 'Scream' movies ranked, including new one

After these exits, "Scream 7" hit the reset button and turned focus back to Campbell. Her character, Sidney Prescott, was the protagonist of the first four "Scream" movies from 1996 to 2011. But Sidney transitioned into a supporting role in the fifth installment, released in 2022, as Barrera's Sam Carpenter took center stage as the new lead. Sidney was then absent entirely from 2023's "Scream VI" afterCampbell declined to return due to a pay dispute.

The offscreen firing resulted in an unusual situation where a franchise passed the torch to a new lead, only to return back to the original star who held the torch in the first place. The whereabouts of Barrera and Ortega's characters is not explained in "Scream 7."

Criticshave not been kind to "Scream 7,"which holds the lowest score of theseries on Rotten Tomatoes. This marks a significant decline from the previous two "Scream" installments, both of which were well-reviewed. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave "Scream 7" an average grade of B-, tying "Scream 4" as the worst rated film in the franchise.

After the box office receipts for "Scream 7," another sequel appears inevitable. But it's an open question whether this mixed response will mean audiences soon start sending Ghostface straight to voicemail.
